Due to the deplorable living conditions in Nachu ward, and the low living conditions in areas surrounding Nachu ward, a number of childrens’ homes has been set up where well-wishers and those who are able can lend a hand jointly.
Some of them are listed herein;
1. Munsigen children’s home
Munsigen is located at Lussigeti sub location, just next to the police station. The home is also referred to as Karai Children’s home. It has a youth polytechnic that couples up as a rehabilitation centre and a school. It has helped many residents and children from other regions of the country. Lack of finances is one of the constraints as the home has very few seasonal donors. Any help given to this home could mean the world to so many needy children and youths.
2. Kipepeo Children’s home
Kipepeo is located at Renguti sub location, Kamangu village. It is a home to many under age children, as young as below one year old. It’s more of a private home but open to any willing individual who can donate any relevant item or monetary assistance. The owner of the home contribute much of the operational stuffs. If this home could have more resources, the children would at least have a more decent upbringing. Many need school fees because they attend to neighbouring schools.
3. I Afrika
I Afrika is a newly established children’s home in Nachu ward. It is located at the Mawathaini junction, on Kikuyu-Nachu-Mutarakwa road. It is a children’s centre, having a school of its own. As with many homes, financial constraints are to blame for the grounded operations in this home. Many activities were terminated prematurely because of lack of finances. Any kind of assistance would contribute greatly to ensure children in this facility get a more decent upbringing and conducive environment for learning.
4. Madison children’s home
Madison is found in Ndiguini, Nachu. It is a home for young children and youths. It is next to Gitutha primary school, and actually most of the children in Madison go to Gitutha primary school. Like many of the children’s homes, Madison experiences financial constraints and is not able to help most of the youths who graduate from the centre. Assistance of any kind, especially monetary and job opportunities could be a big boost to the facility.
